Art & Astronomy - Marcelo Navarro

Marcelo Navarro is a mechanical technician working at the Atacama Pathfinder EXperiment (APEX) telescope. APEX is a world-class 12m radio-telescope located at the llano de Chajnantor in the chilean andes and operated from the control base in San Pedro de Atacama since 2005.

Marcelo is also an avid plastic artist with special interest in metal and wooden sculptures. Over the course of several years, he’s been creating several art pieces that have been used to decorate our control base in San Pedro de Atacama, brightening up our workplace.

Behind every sculpture, there are hours of hard work and dedication during his spare time, bringing to life a group of characters that had become our silent friends scattered all around our control base.

With this page we want to share his art and our deep appreciation to Marcelo and his dedication among his endless team spirit and talent.
