Marcelo Navarro Art Gallery

Marcelo Navarro is a mechanical technician working at the Atacama Pathfinder EXperiment (APEX) telescope, a world-class 12m radio-telescope located at the llano de Chajnantor in the chilean andes. APEX started its operations in 2005 and is remotely controlled from its control base in San Pedro de Atacama.

During his spare time, Marcelo is also an avid plastic artist with special interest in metal and wooden sculptures. Over the course of many years, he’s been producing several pieces of art that decorates our control base, brightening up every corner.

Behind every sculpture, there are hours of imagination, hard work and dedication, bringing to life several characters that had become our silent friends, scattered all around our control base.

In this page we want to share his creations and to express our deep appreciation to Marcelo and his dedication, endless team spirit and talent.

Last but not the least, turn on your audio speakers to fully enjoy this exhibition along with the music of Los Jaivas.
